A bird bath heater? Really?

Recently I saw advertised a heated bird bath. Now come on folks, this is getting absurd. No wonder half of the world hates us. We let children around the world starve while we spend our money on heated bird baths.

My Word For 2013

Across the blogs you may see that many people pick a word for the year. The idea is that if you focus on the word and what it means that you will become a little better for it. So after much prayer and thought I have chosen my word for the year.

 

 

DELIBERATE

 

I want to  be more deliberate with my time and not just let it fritter away while I'm to distracted to notice.

 

I want to be more deliberate in spending time with my loved ones. I want to be more deliberate in teaching my children.

 

I want to be more deliberate in paying attention to those around me and really listening to them not just letting their words go over me while I'm thinking about something else.

 

I want to be more deliberate in scheduling time for fun as well as work, not saying "we should get together sometime" but never making the time to do it.

 

So this is a goal for me for 2013. This is the year I hit the big 5-0! So I think I'd better really start making my time count. Don't you?

A tribute to Doctor Who

 

Back in the dark ages when we were a newly married couple we were assigned to our first military assignment. We were sent to England for 3 1/2 years. And that is when we fell in love with the doctor. The first doctor we met was Peter Davidson, he is the blonde fellow in the front wearing the long coat. Here he is pictured with some of the doctors who came before him. If you are not familiar with Doctor Who, it is classic science fiction. The Dr is a time lord who has numerous adventures, travels with companions he picks up here and there and also has a few frightening enemies. I found a few pictures online that I wanted to share today.

 



I would love to see them come up with a game like this. ;)

 

The angels are coming. Okay, even if this is cute clip, the angels episodes are scary.

 

 

 

 

Although I enjoy watching all of the doctors, I think David Tennant is my personal favorite.

Maybe my oldest son would get into Christmas more if he had a tree like this one.

 

 

I need to put this on my must try list!

 

 

I could foresee a future Tuttle grandchild having a nursery like this.  

 

Seriously need to find these shoes for my son, maybe the socks to go with them too.

BBCAmerica is showing a Doctor Who marathon today. What a fun way to end the year! I know in the scheme of life this is frivolous, but I think it's okay to just have a bit of fun once in awhile. Don't you? Allonsy and Happy New Year!



Raise your hand...

Raise your hand if you were like me and wanted to race to school to pick up  your children after hearing the news of the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. The rational side of my brain told me that my boys were fine, but this little sliver of fear wedged it's way in my heart and I wanted to go hold my babies.
And then it hit me. There are parents of 20 precious little souls that will never hold their babies again.
Dear God, please help these parents. Please wrap loving arms around them as they grieve for their babies.
I have no more words...just prayers for the families of all involved.

Apologies

I have had a hard time keeping this blog updated on a regular basis. I do appreciate those of you who stop in to read and I am going to try to find time to write more often. I have a headful of things I've been wanting to write about, but amazingly I have been very busy and just do not have the time. And they say stay at home moms just sit around watching soaps and eating bon bons. Sheesh!

Anyway, it has been a busy week in the Tuttle home. The church cantata was last Sunday, Alex had a school concert on Tuesday and Preston has one tomorrow. The Sunday school program is this coming Sunday and if possible I'm hoping to pop over to the local dance groups version of The Nutcracker immediately after. Sometime in the mix hubby and I are hoping to find a babysitter so we can go to see The Hobbit together. This is busy schedule is a bit trying for us homebodies.

I've been shopping and baking and crafting and decorating. Meanwhile poor Alex has been having a hard time sleeping, waking up from nightmares, behavior problems are increasing at school and he just seem all around agitated, nervous and scared. It's been very hard for us as we try to figure out what's going on and how can we help him.

I do hope you are all enjoying the Christmas season and are finding time to reflect on the reason we even have Christmas. I am reminded of the miracle that God could even love us, not to mention the fact that He loved us enough to send His son to die for us. I am trying to keep that the focus of my thoughts as we go through these busy days.
